It's worth noting that Ruby's metaprogramming model goes a bit beyond the mere appearance of risk, in many people's opinions. Maybe we're wrong, but it's not like we're avoiding it because it's got a small install base (it doesn't) or nobody's heard of it (we all have, for most of a decade now).
